Day Twelve - Pennsylvania & Driving to Kentucky

July 29, 2013

Good Morning Pennsylvania!

We are headed to Lancaster - Amish Country

We are chasing the sun!

All the corn that is grown here is pretty much grown by the Amish.  It is mostly field corn.  I really want a big crunchy ear of Silver Queen right about now.

Some farms along the road.  PA has the most beautiful sites.

This is the road where we will be taking our load of galvanized metal.

Passing by Mt. Joy.  Wow, it reminds me of an Almond Joy Candy Bar. Yummy!

Here is our exit.

A long, long road filled with corn fields.

Another one of those beautiful farms.  Reminds of my Grandfather's farm that we used to visit when we were little.  He lived in Indiana.

So we pull into the address that was on our assignment and this is what we see. Hmmm, this doesn't look right.
We should be at Trumbull Corporation.
Well, this is actually their business office and we have to go to another location.  We are waiting on the guys from the work site to arrive so we can follow them.

An Amish Farm that I spied while we are waiting.

Well, we are following the guys to our drop off location.

This is it!  We are dropping off more of the same metal straps that you see here in this picture.

One of the guys directing the fork lift driver.

Some of our load has already been added to the stack.

I found some pretty purple flowers in the field next to our truck.  I love flowers, it reminds me that this is so much beauty around us.  We just need to stop and notice it.

Now if you look off in the distance in the middle of this picture you will see what looks like a wall being built.  Apparently, all of the railroads where an Amtrak train crosses a road there will have to be bridges over them.  This bridge will come all the way back to where we are standing.  The guy who I was talking to was telling me that the Amish children will come up to the tracks and watch them.  He said they are really nice.  His name was Blake and I enjoyed chatting with him.

Well we got our next assignment.  We are picking up from Alcoa again.  We were just there last week.  So here we go again to Manheim Pike.

Welcome to Alcoa! --- Again

If  you remember the last time we were here, we had to wait for HOURS, but this time we pulled right into a bay and they loaded us right away!  Hip Hip Hooray!

This is another trucker and his name is Robert.  He was a very nice guy.  He has been a driver for six years.  He owns his truck now.  I told him I would give him a shout out so his wife could check out the blog and see him.

This is the company he works for: Builders Transportation

We are getting ready to get back in the truck and head on down to Kentucky!
A New State Baby!

These are the trucks that pulled in after we did.  It was a full house when we left.

Here is a neat tower we passed.  Paul and I debated on what it was for.
We think maybe it was to a dairy.

Some neat old buildings. A little run down.

Here is a different angle on the Cow Tower.  I'm seeing some thing that says Ice Cream.

Well here is a dairy so maybe the sign is affiliated with it.

More farm land.

It's a tree farm.  Now that is different from all the corn we see up here.

Yep, more corn.

Oh Yeah! Toll House Road.  Do you think they have some cookies?

Here we go again.  Another exit.

Turnpike toll booths.  I am amazed our truck fits through them.

We aren't going to Pittsburg, but it is in the direction we are heading now.  We are going to head across PA into OHIO.

Emergency Call - MY BED!

Turnpike Office.

Just cruising down the road.  I will ultimately be snapping pictures of everything.

Another deserted Company

Too many of these out of business places in our country.   Maybe we should start using these abandoned buildings and stop sending stuff overseas to be produced.

A lot of rivers that we pass over.  Course, I have no idea what this one is, because I missed the sign.

Like a Good Neighbor ... State Farm is There.  Can't you just hear me singing that song.

Horseies!

This is what I look at for miles and miles

We are getting off here for a pit stop and maybe some real food.

Pretty Fancy Digs

I just had to take a picture of this.  I have never seen this before.

A toilet for Mommy and Me, plus a place to strap down the
little brother or sister who wants to take off.

Just a shot of our load from behind at the rest stop.

That's us!

And now we start to head through the Mountain Tunnels
Blue Mountain Tunnel

Kittatinny Tunnel

Tuscarora Mountain Tunnel

Look at that pointy mountain off in the distance.

Still on I 70/76

Now these little buildings are made this way so that when it snows they won't collapse.
They hold equipment to clear the roads.

Cows or as we would say when we were children "Bingo!"

Alleghany Mountain Tunnel

Wind Power

More Farms

A town on the hill, so pretty.

Hey your guess is as good as mine.

The storm clouds are moving in .

I guess we should feel safe that this fence is blocking falling rocks.  But really?

We get messages from Jesus.  He has surely been with us the whole way.

Coming up to bridge.

Here is a picture of a map that shows that we will cross from PA to WV to OH very quickly.

Never thought that there was a city named California.  I have seen some pretty interesting names.

Awww, I sure hope everyone is a lover here.

Another interesting name of a city.

Horses and there was a Llama or an Alpaca here too.

Not a very nice view from the church steps.

Toys R Us and a bunch of Cars.  Now whose toys are these?

Washington Wildcats

Toy Train Museum
This one is for Liam.  Wish we could go there buddy.

Welcome to West Virginia!

Yet another Water Tower.

Tridelphia? See there are so many new names of cities that I am seeing.

WV Community College is near by.

Wheeling Tunnel

I just love it when we see these pretty old buildings.

Awesome Old Bridge as we head over to Ohio.

Welcome to Ohio!

Bet this is where some Quakers settled.

Salt Fork State Park

Here is my little Reilly girl.  Paul likes to get daily pictures of the kiddos.

Well there aren't any more pictures tonight.  We stopped around 7:00 or 8:00 pm.
We spent the night in Ohio at a Love's Truck Stop.

We went for a walk on a road next to the Truck Stop and ate at Arby's.
We had salads and a turkey sandwich.

Good Night!

Peter 2:2-3

Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,  now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
