We headed out early this morning again. I have to admit I climbed back into the bottom bunk for a while. When it's dark out, I just feel like I should be sleeping. This is Birmingham in the morning.
As the sun starts to come up, the mountains are covered with fog.
We are heading up through Alabama.
Sulfur Springs - Now that sounds like a place everyone would want to go to. NOT!
Bet the smell isn't that of roses either.
Beautiful Mountains
We are leaving Alabama,
Welcome to Georgia!
Looks like Chattanooga is up ahead!
Which way do we go? Which way do we go?
Welcome to Tennessee!
Now that is a nice rest stop. But we didn't stop....
Wait, what was that? You better be on the lookout!
Oh, it's just Lookout Mountains.
I have no idea what this statue is of. Just saw it and thought,
hey what the heck, I should take a picture.
Just chiseling out the road as they go.
So Tennessee has an aquarium. Go figure.
Another deserted industrial building. There are a lot more than you can imagine.
Okay, you have to look close, but this used to be "Sugar's BBQ" It has a big cut out of a lady to the left of the building holding a plate of ribs.
Still working our way toward Knoxville, TN
Some clouds on the horizon.
I never Text and Drive .... Do You?
(Okay, I have and I'm ashamed that I have. It is so dangerous)
Getting closer to Knoxville.
A gold topped building. Must be important.
Another interesting water tower off in the distance.
A better picture of it.
Some of Knoxville.
Another deserted building. Our country has had a hard time with businesses going under.
More mountains off in the distance.
Appalachian Mountains
I think this was Lake Holston.
East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery
Strawberry Plains Park
Just sitting here and what do I do, I take a picture of the logo on the glove box.
Yes, since we have already driven this route some, I am getting bored.
Hey Pigeon Forge is where Dollywood is. Maybe some day I will get to go there.
Eating up the side of the road one scoop at a time.
Mountains again!
Some cool cloud formations off in the distance.
Do you think Davy Crocket had a cold one at this tavern?
We stopped for a potty break and some fuel.
Take a look at our view.
We are a couple of real Cheesers!
Now that is better! Paul is looking very serious now.
An interesting layout on the side of this hill.
We are getting close to the border of Virginia.
You can see off in the distance how the roads goes UP and DOWN.
Now we are on the UP side.
.
Paul says this is Lake Holston again
Here is a shout out to all my Hickory Elementary Peeps!
I love you guys!
Pretty, Pretty, Pretty!
For you Race Fans - Bristol Motor Speedway
Some more chunky hills.
The Caverns are so cool. Never been to this one though.
Here comes the rain... dooden doo doo
Welcome to Virginia
(the western side of the state)
A reminder that Jesus died for our sins.
Okay, which way do we go? I vote for Chick-Fil-A, oh wait a tractor trailer just won't fit!!
We are going to stop at Wal-Mart and stock up on supplies.
We actually went to the movies while we were in town. We saw "Red 2" and it was very good. Nice to chomp on some popcorn and stretch out.
We had to go the Verizon store because the battery in my phone won't keep a charge. Apparently, this model (Charge) has been discontinued and they don't even carry the battery. Booo-Hissss!
But Wait!
Good News ...
I was able to get a new I-phone 4 with a case, screen protectors, and a car charger for $105.00.
Thanks to our new friends at the Verizon Store. What a very helpful group they were. It has been refreshing to meet nice people along the way on our trip.
The fellow who helped us was Anthony Horne. Here is a group shot of him and his co-workers.
Anthony is on the left.
This one is a bit blurry - I'm laughing and I hadn't learned how to use my camera yet.
They also recommended we eat at a place called the Amish Store. Paul and I got a sandwich called the "Black Buggy." We took it our truck stop and chowed down.
It was so good! Thanks guys for the heads up!
I just loved this plaque. The lady at the Amish Store said a lot of people take pictures of it.
Well, we are headed down the road, but not too far. We will be staying at a TA for the night in Virginia. On the Way we saw this!
A RAINBOW - God's promise to us.
Good Night!
Genesis 9:13
I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
