We started out this morning at 4:45 am. We stayed in South Carolina last night. We did get to bed last night at 8:00 pm. So I think we are rested up. Although, I can't wait for the sun to come up, because honestly I really wish I was still in bed. Isn't that what teachers are supposed to do in the summer ~ Rest! Okay, Georgia Here We Come!
This is a peach shaped water tower. You can't really tell because it is STILL dark.
And this was still in South Carolina.
We drove by the Cracker Barrel at Ext 40 - that's where our niece Chelsea works. Wish we could have seen her last night, but it just wasn't possible. It is really a terrible picture but I wanted to give her a shout out. Maybe next time Chelsea.
Some pretty lakes in South Carolina.
Welcome to Georgia!
I told Paul I was going to take this picture of trees because that is all we are seeing on this highway in Georgia. Boring Trees! I need some sights.
Okay when I saw this picture, I automatically started singing
"Way down upon the Swaaaaneeee River." Sorry, I just couldn't resist.
We are almost to our first drop off location. It is on Old Peachtree Road.
The Sugarloaf is just a bonus. Typical Georgia names.
Atlanta is not too far from our destination.
Fancy Overpass
Pretty Church
Welcome to Ryerson Company!
Georgia
Oh my gosh, they have a break room with AIR CONDITIONING!
I'm in Heaven! We sat in here while they took a break - that's right the workers here
have to take a mandatory break. The bell rings when it is up. And then back work.
Here is our truck ready to be unloaded. Once again backed into a tiny little area.
Only guess what, they decided to unload it outside, so back in the truck and we have to move it.
Hey look, there ARE pretty homes in Georgia.
So we unloaded half of the load and now we are headed to Birmingham, AL with the other half of the load. We are going to be passing by Atlanta, GA.
Atlanta from a distance.
Look! It's Six Flags- I have never been there before!
Here is the tip of a roller coaster!
Just some sights on the way to Alabama.
"Whataburger" - I have never heard of this place before.
I think this was called Lake Norman.
My trucking buddy. This is how we roll with no make-up.
We made it to Alabama!
We tried to see our nephew Ronny but he is about two hours from Birmingham.
More traffic to deal with in Birmingham.
Some factories along the way to our next drop off location.
This place was called DUNN, as you can see just as I snapped a picture a big ole tree jumped into the shot. Those trees just keep popping up everywhere.
Welcome to O'Neil Steel
A steel boneyard next door.
Now this sign is meant to help guide the trucks in... do you see a problem here?
Here we are inside the warehouse. No hardhat rules here , but I am wearing my safety glasses because Paul said if a bungee cord popped off it could take my eye out. So the safety glasses stay.
We are waiting for the mobile crane to unload us.
We are done! And on the road again. We are heading to our next location to pick up a load.
Is this guy for real?
Birmingham city buildings.
We took this picture because Paul and his family used to live in Huntsville, AL
I don't know if you can see it, but there is a truck up in the air on the right side of this picture.
Well this is where we are going.
We came upon this car that ran off the road. The Fire Dept. was just standing there scratching their heads. I'm not sure they knew what to do.
We are getting close!
Welcome to Melton Trucking - Training Center
Birmingham AL
That's right, we are actually dropping the trailer here and picking up one that is already loaded. And they have laundry facilities, a lounge, a TV room, free showers. This is a real treat!
Check out all these trailers. Just stacked on top of each other.
Here is Paul working on dropping the trailer off of our rig. We will just drive it over and hook up to the load that we are taking tomorrow. And guess what, it is all they back up to Pennsylvania ... to the same stinkin' city that we came from a couple of days ago. We were hoping for Texas.
This is our new trailer with the load.
Good Bye old friend. sniff sniff
This may seem strange, but as I was walking by our cab, I noticed something yellow sticking out of the grill. It was this cool Moth that had gotten stuck (killed) while we were driving down the road. The teacher in me, just had to examine it and take a picture. Isn't it just beautiful.
God's beautiful creations are a reminder of all the good that is in the world.
One more thing. It's Janelle's Birthday Today!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU MOMMA
These are the flowers I wanted to send to you, but scrooge said it was a waste of money and that we would get you something that would last longer.
We love you!
Oh and for a real treat, Paul ordered us Pizza and it was delivered here to the training center, after a day of humus, celery, carrots, sun chips, oranges & bananas, yogurt, breakfast bar and choc. covered raisins, HOORAY! What a treat!
Good Night!
Thanks Mr. Watson and Mia for my verse today.
John 10:27
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
