Day Fourteen - Kentucky

July 31, 2013

Happy Birthday to Me!
52 Years Young Today

We started out around 6:15am.  We arrived at our location at 7:05am. What a nightmare getting through the dinky little town of Benton, KY.  For goodness sakes, the lady in the GPS is not on Paul's good side today.  We made it though after a few close calls and a little fire-breathing.

I know they aren't the best looking feet but, I painted up toes last night for my birthday!

I think this was the Cumberland River.

We are going to be traveling on the Kentucky Purchase Parkway this morning.
It would be cool if we could stop and see some of the sites.

I automatically called these bridges the "Twin Bridges"

And I think this is the Tennessee River.

I thought this was interesting.  "The Land be Between the Lakes"
Look on the map, it's a real place.

A neat little drive-in restaurant.  It reminds me of Dumar's back home in Norfolk, VA

So here is the church across the street from where we got held up in this little town of Benton.

Welcome to Alcan 3A Composites!
Benton, KY

Untarping and getting ready to have them unload the trailer.

This is where we keep the tarps under the truck.

My Happy Birthday picture.
Paul is eating a banana and I told him he looked like a monkey.
But he is MY monkey boy!

Awwww, look my Liam sent me a picture this morning.
He and his mommy, Katy called and sang happy birthday to me on the phone.
I also heard from my Holly too

And here is sweet Reilly. She is getting some meat on those bones.

Here are the two of them.  Of course Liam has to make a face.  That seems to be a family trait

We are heading out the gate from where we dropped off.
We just got orders to head to Lewisport, KY and pick up a load to be delivered in Laredo, TX
That's right, we are going to Texas.

Neat little car heading down the road.

I sent this to Liam, because he sent me a picture of him signing "I love you Mimi."

Our pick up stop is in Lewisport, KY.  It is very close to Indiana, which is where I was born.  Maybe some time we will get through there.

We took this picture after we had been driving in circles to try and find the entrance to the company site.  The lady at the gate said go down that road over there.... well this is the sign we see as we make the turn.  REALLY?  Are we not a Semi Truck?

Welcome to Aleris!
Lewisport, KY

We weren't allowed to take pictures inside the building.  We picked up Metal Coils again.
We got four pallets for a total of 40,000 pounds.
Here I am finishing up the report for Paul that goes into the Qualcomm.  It is how the DOT tracks everything now.  No actual paper.

Here is a thumbs up!  I am sweaty and tired.  But we are about ready to pull out
bound for Texas, Baby!

This is one of the roads we had to travel down.  Gee-Whiz!

And now Lunch/Dinner.
Cheese, Turkey and Crackers.
Who doesn't want that for their Birthday Dinner.
Oh and I had a Hershey candy bar for dessert.

Headed back in the same direction we just came from this morning.

This is pretty cool.  We aren't sure if it is smoke or steam.
The sign in front said it was a clean water treatment plant.

Kentucky Motor Speedway - Start your engines Race Fans!

This is an equivalent to our Home Depot.

Western Kentucky University must be around here somewhere.

We will be traveling about the same way for a while this afternoon.
We actually didn't get on the road till about 4:00 pm from our pick-up so we are
probably going to drive until 8:00 pm.

Hmmm, I wonder what this is?  Oh Yeah, it's a water tower.
Fulton, KY

Well, we have to stop for the night.
So we are pulling into a Wal-Mart for the night.  There aren't any truck stops around.
No shower, just baby wipes tonight.
But certainly a gourmet dinner from Wal-Mart is order for my Birthday.

Well we picked up some grub.  I chose Turkey and Cheese pinwheels and potato salad from the Deli.
Paul got some Choco-Tacos for a treat.  We ate one heading back to the car. Just couldn't wait!
He also got me some great T-shirts for my birthday.
They say "Blessed Girl" on them.  I really do feel like a blessed girl.

Here is the view from our truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
God has painted a beautiful sky for us tonight.

Good Night Friends and Family!
Tonight's verse seemed so fitting for this picture.

Psalm 19:1
The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
