We woke up this morning in beautiful Kanab, UT. We looked out our door and saw a majestic mountain. Now we will walk through this 2 mile town and visit "Little Hollywood." We had Mexican food last night and walked to the Wendy's for a frosty/waffle cone. What a nice treat.
Here is a Kanab, Utah sign. This picture was taken later in the day,
but I put it here so you could see the name of this marvelous little town.
Feeling hungry, let's take this shopping cart and load it up.
All through the town are these plaques with the pictures and bios of the stars who made movies here. We took a few pictures of them. There were hundreds of them lining the street.
Gunsmoke and The Outlaw Josey Wales and many others were filmed in the countryside of Kanab.
Hey there isn't anything written here. I am feeling a little hungry too.
Just stopped to hang out with John Wayne. My mom and grandmother loved him back in the day.
Paul was giving him some pointers.
Here is the Parry Lodge again. I think I spelled it wrong yesterday. Anyhow, on our walk to Little Hollywood we stopped in to check it out.
I wish there was a horse attached right about now. The walk didn't look that long from our hotel.
You think this bear would give us a lift.
I loved Maureen O'Hara.
Just some cool wood.
I love these rocks. We stopped into the store and bought some items to take home.
It's a surprise for my buddies, so I won't show you now.
Just a hint, they come from these beautiful mountains around here.
Paul is pooped with watching me shop or more like "mill about" the store.
Here are some pictures to show that the rocks we bought were found right here in Kanab, UT
and they work on them in the back of this shop.
Okay we finally made it Little Hollywood. I am in the Jail though. Just doesn't seem fair.
I am looking sad. But this set was used in The Outlaw Josey Wales.
Too Cool!
This is a view of the "homestead" used in the film too. What is funny is we just watched it last night.
Paul thought it was pretty cool to be here. Guess what it is made of?
Plaster and Styrofoam. Easy to assemble and move.
Well, not the door it was made of wood.
That's my man!
And I'm his girl.
Pretty fancy way to label the men's and ladies' bathrooms.
These two boys were riding bareback down the sidewalk that we were walking on to get back to our truck. I waved at them and told them that they were now stars as I snapped the picture.
(Maybe we should have hitched a ride)
We are back on the road. Heading down into Arizona to get back up into Utah.
Arizona for a short time.
Back in Utah.
Going to Try putting a video here. Hopefully it will work.
We stopped along the side of the road and took this video.
Cedar City from the hill we topped.
Video coming down the mountain toward Cedar City, UT
I got a little creative on this one.
We had to go to Wal-Mart to get my prescriptions filled. While walking around, I spotted Elvis in a handicapped cart. I knew he was still alive.
Had to sneak this picture over my shoulder.
After Wal-Mart, Paul took me to the movies. We saw "Two Guns" with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. It was pretty good. We shared some popcorn and enjoyed the break.
We made it back to the truck and drove to the job assignment to see if there was overnight parking.
(we are walking everywhere - I don't know why we brought our bikes because we haven't used them
yet!) We walked four miles in Kanab, but I guess the exercise is good. We had some Mexican food that was across from the Wal-Mart.
We ended up staying at a Loves Truck Stop. We skipped the showers since we had one in the morning. I needed to get all the pictures up from the past three days. I took way too many.
I am going to try to take short video clips and see if that is better. I think that will give you a better picture of what we are seeing. We will be unloading in the morning at GenPak.
Good Night!
Psalm 95:4
In his hand are the depths of the earth;
heights of the mountains are his also.
