Day Twenty-Two - Driving (Utah, Colorado, New Mexico)

August 8, 2013.

Paul woke up early and I didn't.  When he was ready to head out, I crawled down to the lower bunk and went back to sleep. I slept until we got to a rest stop. Then I got moving and came to life.
We are still in Utah.

The next place we stopped was this rest stop.  It was made to look like a train station.

Isn't it a quant little place.

Soldier Summit

Some more beautiful landscapes.

I get so amazed at these rock formations/mountains.

They just blasted a hole in the middle of this mountain and made a road.

Some video of us traveling through the mountains

Price Canyon

It's like a tunnel without the top.

Some of these formations actually look like castles.

The Green River

Not Green anymore --- It's brown now.

More Canyonlands

This is the road that we are on.
Dinosaur Diamond Prehistoric Highway

Once again, a daily storm on the horizon.

I haven't seen this green before.  Mary, if you see this ask Jack what this is.

There are a lot of campgrounds, this one looks pretty neat.

Love it when we see the orange rock.

These rocks are very close to the road.

Canyonlands

This is part of the Colorado River.

We are going through Moab.  Check out the game boards in the parking lot.

This was a big, very big red boot.  But I didn't snap it quick enough.

This place was a home that was 5000 square feet carved into the side of the mountain.  We couldn't get in  the parking lot around the corner.  We were going to walk down from the rest stop, but I didn't want to take a chance.  So we just snapped some pictures and kept driving.

There is Paul running up the side of the mountain.  He loves all this scenery.
He says "The Egyptians don't have anything on God"

I am so ready for color and a haircut.  Today was a wear the hair up day, which showed my 2 inches of gray hair. But on the road, hair and makeup take a back seat.  No need for it.

We thought about walking to Hole in the Rock....

There is Paul presenting the majesty of God's handiwork.

Here it is, just around the corner but this truck isn't fitting.

Amazing how the wind and rain can make this hole in a rock.

A  long road.

Looks like a head of a bird peaking out of the ground.

The Sphinx?

Canyon Discovery Center

Welcome to Colorful Colorado!
This tractor sign popped up in front of the Welcome sign.

Some of these rocks are just so cool.

Welcome to New Mexico!
We weren't in Colorado very  long.

We saw these really cool dust storms that look like little tornadoes.

We are back on Navajo land.

A very nice colored rock art picture on the side of the road.

Aztec Ruins

This a McDonalds - Navajo Style

Wow!

A sign for our ultimate destination tomorrow.
Albuquerque, NM

Giant pottery!

Awww, my sweet Katy and Liam. He misses his Mimi (doesn't he look sad)

Sweet Holly holding Reilly and silly boy Liam.
Liam was picked to run the bases with RipTide tonight at the Tides baseball game.  Holly videotaped it. It was awesome.  He did a great job.  I was so proud of him. He was wearing his superman shirt with a red cape.  They picked him because they said "he was so stinking cute."

We are staying in Milan, New Mexico tonight.  We will deliver our load tomorrow in Albuquerque at ABC Supply.  Probably only have to drive 1 1/2 hours to get there.
Plenty of time for me to sleep in. lol
Got a Shower and had dinner at the TA truck stop.  Not so good tonight.
But better than nothing.  I am ready to see the kids again.

Good Night

Proverbs 22:6

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
