We went back to the terminal this morning so Paul could get the load ready.
Good Bye Petro!
And the cheesy "gentlemen's club" right next to the truck stop.
Good Bye!
I sat inside and worked on yesterdays blog. I was freezing inside the terminal as the thermostat is set at 64! Imagine to be freezing in Texas. I had to go to the truck and get a blanket. It was my handy dandy travel blanket from Thirty-One. Thanks Gina Norfleet and Carla Lewter for being the best Thirty-One ladies around. The sleeper berth of the truck looks like a Thirty-One party.
Don't be hating on the early morning look.
It took Paul about 3 hours because he had to untarp the load that came in last night from another driver, and then retarp it with his tarps. After I finished the blog from yesterday I went out and helped him finish up with the bungee cords. I really thought I was going to get away without getting sweaty or dirty. Wrong!
Aww, here is our Baby Reilly with our picture for the day.
She is ready for a Luau and looks like someone yelled "stick em up"
A Water Park on the side of the road.
Allied Paving Company
Again with the cool overpasses. They are so pretty.
Never thought I would say that about an overpass.
That's Mexico off in the distance.
Water Tower (but not really a tower)
Well every time I put this picture in it would rotate it. So I'm sorry if you can't read it well.
My finger points to where we are, notice Mexico is next to us.
The Juarez Mountain is over there somewhere.
It has the words "The Bible is the Truth" painted on the side of it in Spanish.
Back to 80 MPG. Wholey Moley!
Fort Hancock TX
Love the mountains like this, but I have a feeling that we will be back to flat lands soon.
El Capitan Historic Hotel
Look at all of those paths all over the mountain.
Here is a rest stop that has Tepees for the buildings. Pretty cool. It was on the other side of the road.
We are approaching a "Border Patrol" Station.
They have a doggy too and he sniffed all under our truck.
White Desert
Hey here is 20 acres for $165,000.
Any takers?
I am assuming that there is a golf course somewhere around here.
A lot towns like to paint a letter on the mountain next to their town.
I brought my knitting supplies and I finally got one bootie made for Reilly.
The other one is started so maybe I will finish it tomorrow.
My wrist started to hurt so I put it down.
Oh the JOYS of old age.
I thought it was three little hills, but when we got up to them,
it was actually one hill with chunks cut out.
Isn't this old building beautiful?
I chunk of rock on the top of this hill.
They chopped up this one to make two lanes through it.
Pretty name.
We are getting off I 10 now and going over to I 20 the rest of the way through Texas.
The Flat Lands are beginning.
We have this fly in our cab that has been with us since El Paso, and I have set a trap for him.
I am ready to whack him a good one.
However, he didn't fall for it and I never got him. He finally flew out a couple of hours later.
Getting close to Pecos
This is a prison on the side of the road.
Pecos Park and Zoo.
I am amazed at how much is out here on the highway.
Some more handy-work on the overpasses.
Oil fields are starting to pop up more.
As soon as I saw this, I though of the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz.
Shout out to my daughter Holly, who has loved the Wizard of Oz since she was four.
Love you my sweet girl.
Another Rest Stop / Visitor Center.
With a playground, poor parents who are trying to get their kids back into the car.
Everyone is star in the bathroom!
You know I am going to find some beauty out here in the desert.
Paul doing a load check and tire check.
On the road again....
A deserted exit. Used to be a big truck stop.
We are in Odessa.
Hey, these guys made Paul's truck.
Fair Grounds ahead.
This was a surprise because I didn't know that they were from Midland. I knew it was Texas.
Read the sign for a good chuckle.
Soreheads!
We are going to be heading into Sweetwater later.
God Bless America.
Instead of green corn fields, we got brown "something" out here in Texas.
Check out the Wind Power.
A lake that appeared to have a white rim.
A dark Tin Man.
A rusty Tin Man.
Oil Refinery
Well I am losing light, so no more pictures tonight. We are going to stay in Sweetwater, TX at the TA travel stop. We pulled in about 9:30 pm and got a hot shower. It felt like heaven. Came back to the truck, and we played on the phone and computer. We have to get up and get going at 6:30 am.
I can't wait to get home. I have enjoyed this time with Paul and all the sights along the way.
It has been like a free vacation on wheels. I will miss him when he goes back on the road.
We will keep traveling across the state of Texas tomorrow and will probably make it to
Louisiana. We will cross through Mississippi, GA, South Carolina, then to NC by the 13th!
We finish up in Maryland on the 14th and then HOME (hopefully.)
Good Night!
