Day Eighteen - Driving (Texas & New Mexico)

 August 4, 2013

Got up and left Fort Stockton early in the morning.
I tried to get a picture of the Giant Roadrunner in the town,
but it is blurry because the sun still hasn't come all the way up.

Here are the AC Units we are taking to Cedar City, UT
Not due till Wednesday, Aug. 7th.

This really was so cool, sorry it is blurry.

Some deserted buildings on the side of the road.

Looks like an Oil Pump, but is actually a Water Pump

This is a better picture of Fort Stockton

Heading to Pecos, TX

We are here, but not for long.

Still not sure if these are oil or water fields.

We got and stopped to see what one of these "Historical Markers" was all about.

Striking a pose ... pony tail and all.

Welcome to New Mexico!
Land of some beautiful sites.

Town of Carlsdad

Some towns are very pretty, while others are just gone and dried up.

A Zoo out here in the desert?!

Take a look at the map and see our route.
We are going right up through the middle on route 25 N and then in Albuquerque we will
turn onto route 40 W.  We will head over to Arizona and up to where we can
see DINOSAUR TRACKS! I am so excited about that.

For now, just page through the pictures of the landscape.
I know I probably took way too many.
But I couldn't help myself, it was so beautiful./

Water treatment or power plant.

Ranch Gate

Some cows!  For having been in Texas, we haven't see that many cows.

We are in Roswell, New Mexico
Look it was an Alien landing on the side of the road!

Our Sweet Reilly picture.  I can't wait to get back and love on her.

My Holly and silly Liam with his usual silly face.

Back to the Plains.

The scenery is starting to change.  These rock formations are popping up and will be in most of the pictures through New Mexico and Arizona.

But for now, some more flat land.

Sheep on the side of the road.  Always something different at every turn.

Yucca Motel seems a bit yucky to me.

Look!  I see rock formations starting to pop up again off in the distance.

No way am I staying here... just a little spooky looking.

A neat little truck stop - tourist trap.
And yes, I did get trapped with a couple of purchases.

I do not know what this is, but though it was worthy of a snap.

Oh yeah, the rock formations are getting better.  You are going to see a BUNCH of pictures.

Wagon Wheel

Beautiful Horizon

It's a Zoo.  Way out here in the middle of nowhere.

Zuzak? Unusual name for New Mexico

We are passing through Albuquerque

They do fancy overpasses here too.

Check out the walls.  You don't see that back at home.

This overpass is so detailed.

Native Americans have a few of Casinos out here as it helps make money for the reservations

More pictures of the awesomeness of God's handiwork.

We are going to stay in Gallup tonight.  It is close to the Arizona border.
Then tomorrow we are going to a Navajo Reservation to see Dinosaur tracks.

We watched this storm off in the distance and we did finally ride through it.
It is just so neat to see the rain coming down.

We are here in the storm.

We went right over the Continental Divide.
There is where the flow of water to the ocean changes.
One side will flow to the Pacific and one side will flow to the Atlantic.

Trains and Trucks, that is how stuff gets moved across country.

Another Casino

The Chief greeted us as we entered the Travel Plaza for the night.

We had a great day seeing the beautiful countryside of New Mexico.
I can't wait for tomorrow.  I am loving the rock formations.  You just can't really explain it
so I hope I have taken enough pictures for you to see.

Good Night.

Psalm 125:2
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people,
from this time forth and forevermore.
