Wow it is hard to believe it is already August. I have to start back to work in about 3 1/2 weeks.
NO, not yet!
We headed out this morning around 6:15 am. Left Kentucky and went right in to Tennessee.
It was about five miles down the road from
our Wal-Mart rest stop. :o)
Welcome to Tennessee!
Welcome to Tennessee!
(A Water Tower proclaiming we are in Tennessee)
We still can 't find any truck stops to gas up.
We had to go down a dinky little highway through a town in Tennessee.
Let the farm pictures begin.
A pretty fancy bank.
A sign to Memphis, TN - We won't be going there. Sorry Elvis!
Reelfoot State Park.
Only people with real feet are allowed there.
Half way over the river, we enter Missouri.
Welcome to Missouri!
I can't imagine living in a town named "Cooter." Need I say more?
So I never thought I would make it to Holland. Looks like I have!
We are getting close to Little Rock, AK
I only took this picture because this truck pulled up right when I wanted to take a picture. Booo!
Believe it or not, this says Ripley Road.
Look at the rays of sun shining down through the clouds.
Let the farm pictures begin.
Hey the Baptists have their own hospital.
A pretty fancy bank.
This appears to be a deserted old factory.
The county is Reelfoot, TN
This is Union City, TN
This is New Bern, TN
Reelfoot State Park.
Only people with real feet are allowed there.
They have a Port of Gates Landing
This is a Water Treatment Plant
The trees on the side of the highway were covered with this Ivy-like plant.
This pictures shows that most of the land is FLAT, not like the mountains we have been through.
Heading over a bridge to Missouri
It just happens to be the Mississippi River
Half way over the river, we enter Missouri.
Welcome to Missouri!
More Flat Land
I really wanted to go to "Haiti" this summer on a Mission Trip. But it wasn't possible this year.
But Wait, I did get to go to "Hayti" in Missouri. Does that count?
I can't imagine living in a town named "Cooter." Need I say more?
So I never thought I would make it to Holland. Looks like I have!
Welcome to Arkansas!
We were only in Missouri a short time. Here is the map showing the crazy borders.
This welcome center is a log cabin style building. It was very pretty inside and out.
Okay the story with this girl is that she had hitched a ride with a trucker to get home to Las Vegas. Apparently she had a seizure inside the rest stop and when the trucker found out, he took off and left her there. The workers were trying to find her a ride with another trucker or someone else.
She looks a little lost. I sure hopes she finds her way home.
Today is a pony tail kind of day. Remember there was no shower last night. Only baby wipes.
We are hoping to get to a shower later this morning.
I can't wait!
Take a look at these fields. They have a wavy pattern to them.
I thought that was pretty cool.
I would love to go to an Archeological Park
Guess what! We got a shower!
Don't we look clean and refreshed?
We are getting close to Little Rock, AK
We will go right into Texarkana eventually.
There is Little Rock off in the distance.
Hey what is everyone doing at church on a Thursday afternoon?
Who cares, as long as they are praising Jesus.
Hot Springs, I wonder if they really have hot springs there.
This map shows how close we are getting to Texas baby!
Awww, this town reminds me of my sweet friends back home.
Shout out to: Arlene, Sandi, Beth, Mollie, Cheryl
This town reminds me of the hope we have in our Lord.
Oh look, can you believe that this actually a historic site?
I have nothing else to say ...
Now this one makes sense.
They were burning the fields in these pictures. Look at the smoke.
We are getting close to Texas.
Welcome to Texas!
The overpasses are very decorative.
We are in Texarkana!
Look at these overpasses.
Awww another shout out to our Richmond Family!
Hi Maci and Ian, kiss mommy and daddy for us.
This restaurant reminded me of my buddy Mollie.
Check out the system of overpasses.
Farmers Market
I wonder if they get any respect in Daingerfield?
Cows going in for a dip and a sip of water.
I only took this picture because this truck pulled up right when I wanted to take a picture. Booo!
Now we are starting to see front gates for big ranches.
This old house didn't make it.
Believe it or not, this says Ripley Road.
This picture is from the wall inside the rest stop we stopped at. Wow!
What is up with naming places Sulphur?
I bet the Dairy Museum would be neat.
I took this shot of the couple on the motorcycle. The speed limit is 75 mpg and they don't have helmets on. They are an accident waiting to happen.
Uncle Sam's Fireworks
Yep, some more cows.
The Red Line Raceway... like our Langley Raceway.
Look at the rays of sun shining down through the clouds.
Popcorn Papa - If you know my Paul, you will have to agree that this sign is for him.
Soulman's Bar-B-Que. Looks like the truckers love it.
This the courthouse in the town we will be staying tonight.
There is a stadium right next to it. Not sure for what.
We are sitting at the light to turn left, and look at this overpass. They sure know how to make things look pretty down south. I love it.
Ahhhh, our humble abode for the night. A TA truck stop.
Check this out. Lake Tawakona - sounds Native American.
Well we are settled in for the night. As I finish typing this Paul is already asleep. He is planning on getting up at 3:00 am. Booo! That means I will probably hop back into his bunk for a while.
We ate at Burger King in the truck stop. I can't lie, I had a Junior Whopper with Cheese and Onion Rings ... and they were very good. This truck stop is hopping too. It is very crowded with trucks coming in and out non-stop. I am tired too, so time for jammies and hop up to the top bunk.
One more shout out; if my dad, Ronny and his wife, Fatima read this "Hey it was nice talking to you today. And if we get your way we will try to see you."
Good Night!
Proverbs 22:6
Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.
