We got up about 5:30 am. When we were ready to leave about 6:30 am, but the QUALCOM said we had to wait another hour. Booo! We walked into the TA, used the potty and I was able to snap this picture of an awesome rattlesnake.
Don't look Holly!
So we sat in the truck for an hour and I finished up last night's Blog. We headed out into the SUN! That's right, we are heading East so I am blinded by the BRIGHTNESS of the morning sun. But thanks to my awesome visor, I am saved!
We passed a sign that said "Stinky Creek Rd"
Sorry the picture is cut off, remember I am blinded by the light.
Hey, that sounds like a catchy tune.
Some pretty neat stores, but we are always up way before they open.
And this one is a "Honey of a Location"
No more beautiful scenery. Just some red dirt.
Back to seeing Water Towers everywhere.
This looks like an old town out of some western movie.
I think this was a building for exchanging livestock.
The Leon River Country Church.
In the town of Ranger.
Desdemona Road
I wonder if a lot of "Desperados" live there?
Cool Ranch gates, probably some of the last ones we will see.
Thurber Museum
Deserted Gas Station
Some trees that look like they have seen better days.
An old smoke stack.
Looks like a museum about the Industrial History of Texas
Another Ranch entrance
We are starting to see more rivers that actually have water in them.
There was a critter in there. I think it was a cow.
More Ranches
We are coming up to Weatherford.
We stay on I 20.
Thought the horses on the fences were pretty cool.
Weatherford!
The Tin Top Road?
Maybe the Tin Man lives down there.
Fancy High School
Pets West - Your best friends have their own store.
Fort Worth up ahead!
We are making our way across the great state of Texas.
Ah Ha! an overpass in the works. I am sure it will be pretty like of others.
Fort Worth Water Tower
I look the a granny, I feel like a granny, I AM a granny.
Working on Reilly's other bootie.
George Bush Turnpike
I am not sure why they would put a big ape on top of the Harley store.
Harleys are cool! Ya Big Ape!
America!
See, what did I tell ya! Texas really knows how to decorate!
I can think of some people who could use a little "Camp Wisdom"
Nope, it's not our Hampton.
I got a picture of Reagan today with four of the post cards I mailed her.
I am so glad that they are making it to the kids.
I always loved getting mail when I was a kid and with technology today
most people don't send as many post cards as they did in the past.
Notice those beautiful flowers, way to go Reagan!
Some stadium in the distance, I am not sure what it is.
Waco - has a little history there.
Lancaster Road, and we aren't even in Pennsylvania.
Shreveport - That's right we are getting close to Louisiana.
Awww, I finished the booties.
Man the first letter got cut off of this picture.
Now I can't remember the name of the Lake.
Here is my buddy AJ with his post cards. He made a poster to hold them all.
Paul and I loved the truck that he drew. We are going to email it to Melton and see if they will post it on their bulletin board. He did an awesome job!
I love you AJ - I promise I will send you three more to fill up your poster.
I think the nifty rest stops are about to come to an end. One more for Texas.
We started at the far corner of Texas in El Paso and will drive all the way across.
Over 800 miles.
Presenting the Star of Texas.
Check out the picnic tables at this rest stop. They look like little oil wells.
Here is my very best buddy, Liam. I sent him a post card with a little Navajo boy on the front.
He called me and told me that he was cute and thank you so much Mimi for the card.
I love him so much and can't wait to get back and get a very big HUG and KISS!
Whoah! Wait a minute! Liam are you making a face at Mimi?
Nah, Aunt Holly said he is just making his usual silly face for the camera
after he said "That's Mimi."
Sniff, sniff, sad that Texas is almost gone and happy too that it gets us that much closer to home.
WHOOOOO DAT!?
as my Holly would say.
Welcome to Louisiana!
Still have those armadillo critters around these parts?
I think this is an Oil Refinery.
And No, it isn't Alexandria Virginia.
Neat Tower, looks the Eiffel Tower to me, but just a leeeeetle bit smaller.
I think we are driving into Monroe, LA
Now that is some pretty graffiti.
The casinos here aren't here to make money for the reservations, they are here to suck you dry.
Fancy name for a Mall
The Black Cat Superstore.
I wonder what they sell there.... Black Cats?
My sweet Liam shopping with Aunt Holly picking up school supplies to donate.
Very thoughtful children and grandchildren I have.
Let's hope that everyone on that road is good.
Grambling State University NOT Grumbling
Bushes cut for the college's name.
GSU
Louisiana Tech
Another place where God's people go to worship.
These bushes say TECH
Water Tower, again.
This is the worst rest stop I have been to the whole time we have been out. I should have taken pictures. It was filthy and full of spider webs, bugs and everything was falling apart and rusty.
I miss those great rest stops in Texas.
Storm ahead!
Now that is just too cool.
Love how the sky is blue on one side and then you have this downpour right in the middle.
Brown Corn Fields?
Rainbow appearing after the storm.
Isn't it amazing how God is always sending us little messages.
Deserted home....
Up ahead is the Mississippi River
The border between Louisiana and Mississippi.
The mighty Mississippi River
That's right we are in Mississippi
Paul was born here in Greenville, MS
Check this McDonalds out!
And I was born in Indiana, but not here on Indiana Road.
The capital of Mississippi is Jackson.
Well what do you know! Another Rainbow.
Thank you Lord.
I bet a bunch of Yazoos live in Yazoo City.
We are staying on I 20.
Here is our stop for the night.
Petro is our home away from home.
We got hot showers, dinner and I picked up a couple more post cards.
I was very tired, so I didn't work on the blog much. Paul watched some TV and then we called it a night about 9:00. I can't wait to be in my own bed again.
Tomorrow we will drive through Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. We hope to be at our location by 7:00 am on Tuesday the 13th. It is in Clayton, NC. After we drop part of the load we go on to Aberdeen, MD to unload the rest. And THEN, we are assuming that we are going home!
Good Night All!
Thanks again Reagan, AJ and Liam for the pictures of you guys with your post cards.
Proverbs 22:6

even when he is old he will not depart from it.
